The Lusitania Museum

The Lusitania Museum will be built, upon raising sucessful funds, at Old Head in Kinsale, Ireland near the Signal Tower. The Lusitania Museum is the owner of the wreckage of the Lusitania itself, having been conveyed such ownership in 2021 by Gregg Bemis upon his death.

The design of the Museum anticipates that visitors will spend most of their time firstly in the Lusitania Museum itself and then in the Lusitania Memorial Garden as well as enjoying the spectacular scenic views from the parapet walk at the top of the Signal Tower. They may then proceed to shop or enjoy the café offerings on their way out. The ground floor plan shows the visitor circuit route through the whole complex. The museum on the northern wing and the café on the east wing enclose the Garden along the boundary of the original enclosure built in 1805 adding an historic dimension to the visitor experience as well as continuing the theme of having a quiet calm space while exploring the wave-sculpture in the garden which will add further understanding to the visitor experience in the museum. There are wonderful sea-views to the east looking towards Kinsale harbour and the Sovereign Islands which the visitor can enjoy while dining al fresco in front of the café.
